Well, we’ve made the rounds, opened all the gifts, and ate way too much! Now, I’ll spend the rest of the week picking up the pieces and cleaning up the mess. And then we’ll do it all over again next weekend when we celebrate Lily Mei’s second birthday! Whew! My house literally looks like something exploded. But, we had the most wonderful Christmas ever! It was so nice seeing our families and friends and watching them all enjoy spending time with our sweet Lily Mei. She was the life of the party, the star of the show, and everyone just fell in love with her!!
Lily Mei’s reaction to Christmas is a little hard to put into words. She got the hang of the present opening pretty fast, but it was almost as if she couldn’t believe all of it was for her. She would open one present and be so proud and want to hold it and look at it. It took us over an hour to open Santa presents, not because there were so many, but because she wanted to take her time and savor each gift. Finally, the boys had to help her open them or we might still be there! And then, after her gifts were opened, instead of wanting to immediately get everything out, she went from one person to the next wanting to see what they got for Christmas. She loved passing out the gifts and I think she loved getting her new clothes even more than all the toys. I have never seen a child love clothes and shoes so much! Every new outfit she opened, she would ‘ooh and ahh’ and then want to try it on right then.
One time in the midst of all the Christmas morning madness, Steve caught Lily Mei in the kitchen all by herself just standing and staring out the window. It almost made us both cry. I just wonder what goes through that little mind of hers. Does she think about her time in the orphanage? Does she wonder where her little friends are? Can she possibly understand why these strange people came and took her away from everything she ever knew? Can she feel the love in our hearts every time we hug her and kiss those sweet little cheeks? Does she know that she is our whole world and we don’t know what we would do without her? She is the sweetest thing and sometimes I think she is an old soul in a little body……..
So we hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and our wish for all our friends and family is that 2008 will see all your dreams come true. Ours certainly did!

Glad you all had a good Christmas. I know somebody who loves clothes and shoes alot too (Brooklynn). She liked them better than the toys.
Love,
Diane
Looks like Santa made TWO stops at your house!! I see she even got the same doll I bought for Kara.
Merry Christmas,
Tina
What a sweet post. Kimmie also got Elmo and the Fisher Price Farm!
I know your Christmas was so very special with Lily Mei home. She is such a doll! Sometimes I think the same thing about Kimmie, that she is an old soul in a young body. I hope we can meet one day! I look forward to following your family's adventures in 2008 and can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for all of us!
Blessings,
Laine
What wonderful pictures!!! Your house looked like ours with so many presents all over the place!!! Kid's make it SO much fun!! Lily Mei is So precious. I do wonder those same things you do sometimes. You know that they feel very blessed. Just from what little we've experienced with Sadie...it is very obvious that she doesn't want to leave us. I'm sure it's the same with Lily Mei. You still wonder what goes through that little mind!!
Anyway...I would ramble and ramble...thanks for sharing your Christmas with us here in blog world!! I left my camera at my grandmothers...so I can't blog yet!!! I will soon though!! Better go. Have a wonderful week!
Blessings,
Buffi

Wonderful post--do you keep a scrapbook, too? DH says I ought to, so Luci will have our words and pictures to look at in a book form. I haven't found time to do that yet. What you said about Lily Mei is so precious. You made me cry.

Thank you vor telling me about that Blurb blog book site. I just checked it out, and even if I did the portrait book with 400 pages, it is still within reason. What a good idea! Thanks for sharing it.

What beautiful pictures and what a beautiful little girl she is! I love her cheeks!!!
I know what you mean about doing it again a week later...Emma Jane's birthday is January 3rd so we are doing her birthday this weekend before we leave for Hawaii!
I love her Christmas dress, I saw that at Dillard's and almost got it for my girls too!
Lily Mei,
My mama says that she got the best Christmas gift ever this year and I don't know what she means - do you? Did your parents get a great one too?

Monica,
What an amazing this Christmas was having our little ones home, huh? I totally understood your explanation of Lily Mei's opening presents. Anna Grace did the same thing. She was so appreciative of every little thing handed to her.
I, too, often think about what goes through their little minds and if they ever think about life before they were "taken away".
Have a wonderful New Year. I know you will...how can you not with that beautiful baby girl in your arms.
Happy 2nd birthday Lily Mei!
