My conversation with Mrs. Pat started with "Well, I have good news and bad news". Oh lordy, what now?? It seems as though Chongqing, Lily Mei's city, shuts down on June 18 and June 19 for "Mayors Day". According to Mrs. Pat, Everything shuts down....police station, civil affairs office, everything. So we will not recieve Lily Mei until Wednesday, June 20th. We also have to pay someone "extra" to come in on Tuesday to complete the paperwork. So, to make up for the extra fee, we are leaving a day later (Saturday, June 16). Mrs. Pat said that by leaving one day later, we will save some money and not spend two days sitting around the hotel with nothing to do (remember, everything is shut down). This means we will have to rush to get all the paperwork together to be ready to fly to Guangzhou on Friday. This also means that Lily Mei's medical will have to be done on Monday, the same day as our consulate appointment. Luckily, Doris (our agency liason in China) knows a doctor who is going to come in early and get Lily Mei's medical done so we can still make the consulate appointment on time. I thought that was really nice and he's not even going to charge extra! So, hopefully, this will be the only glitch in the plan and everything else will work out OK.
Unfortunately, though, we are still at 5 more days......

Oh, Monica! I'm so sorry. What a bummer. I sooooooo look forward to meeting your beautiful Lily Mei and yes, we should definitely plan on doing the Pearl River cruise together!
Hang in there...time will fly when you get down to 3 days! Trust me!
It will be here before you know it. I don't know if I realized before that Lily Mei is from Chongqing. That is where Brooke is from. That is neat.
I know you are so excited to finally be almost there. I wish you a safe and happy trip.
