Finally! The Homestudy!

To those of you not a part of the adoption community, let me explain. The homestudy is probably the most important part of this whole process. This is where you gather all your medical, financial, and criminal history reports; you write a autobiography of your complete life story; and then you sit down with a total stranger who is going to ask you pretty much everything down to what size underwear you have on! (smile) No, just kidding, but it does seem that way sometimes! Anyway, we were so lucky to have wonderful social worker. Our first meeting was today at the Huntsville Public library. We had a private room with a view. Our social worker is Mrs. Pat and she put us completely at ease. It was so easy to talk to her about any topic she threw out. We ended up spending 2-1/2 hours just talking while she made a few notes. She did say Steve's autobiography was pretty sparse, so the majority of the time was spent filling in the blanks on his life. (She said mine was Great! But you know how I tend to ramble on and on.....) Anyway, at the end of the interview, she said "I see no reason why you two won't be able to adopt a baby unless you have a pool without a fence!" Uh Oh!! We have a pool without a fence....Well, it's inside a wood fence but there is no fence separating it from the house. We had all intentions of putting one, but I wanted wrought iron ($$) and Steve wanted vinyl. We just hadn't come to an agreement. But, guess what? We'll be going with the white vinyl picket fence which is much cheaper and in stock at Lowe's. I guess I know what we'll be doing this weekend!!!
