Our adoption journey actually began in January of 2000. After losing two babies in 1999, we had decided that maybe it wasn't meant for us to have any more children. However, we never could find peace with that decision. One day while surfing the internet, I came across an article on adoption and somehow I just knew that was the answer. So after spending countless hours researching, reading and emailing other adoptive parents, we decided that international adoption was the best option for us. However, we were not in the position to begin our adoption at that time, so we developed a plan. I would return to school and finish my nursing degree. Steve would continue to work and pursue his computer science degree. We would get some bills paid, save a little money and enjoy our boys until the time was right to begin.
Now fast forward to 2006: Finances are good. Steve has a wonderful, stable new job. I am working part-time as a RN. We have saved enough to start the process. The boys are excited about adopting. We have sent for information packets from five different adoption agencies and have studied each packet carefully and got recommendations from people who have used each agency. We decide to use Children's Hope International. So, it's now or never!
Today, I mailed the preliminary application to Children's Hope. We are nervous, excited and ready to get started on the long paperchase!
The moral of this story: Never give up hope. We have waited and hoped and prayed for this day. We have worked and saved and prayed some more. I have cried and gotten impatient at times, but Steve has always assured me this day would finally come. But, through it all, we never ever gave up Hope!
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
